Houses
You can find everything from
small and friendly three star hotel
located in down town Reykjavik to large
four star hotels just out site the city
center. Most government buildings,
financial district, stores, museums,
restaurants, night clubs and

hotels and guesthouses you can choose
here.
Whether you plan to
stay in the city or you are using it as
a starting point to an Icelandic nature
experience, Reykjavik has a lot to
offer. We are proud of the phrase,
"Reykjavik- Next door to nature,"
for few other cities can boast of such
an abundance of natural beauty in and
around the city. The fact that
Reykjavik was chosen to represent the
theme "Nature and Culture" as one of the
European Cities of Culture for the year
2000, shows that Icelands nature and
culture are closely intertwined. The
selection of Reykjavik as one of the
European cities of culture, should not
come as a surprise to those who have
visited the city. Reykjavik is bursting
with cultural events, both domestic and
foreign, the whole year 'round. Learn
more about Reykjavik by browsing this
website or contact the Tourist
Information Center for more details.
Reykjavik
swimming pools | geothermal Spas
The hot water in the Reykjavik
swimming pools has a particularly good
effect on stress. First you enter the
hot pot and relax for 15 minutes, before
getting out and cooling down for a
while. Then you go back in, this time in
a hotter pot, and sit for 10 minutes
before getting out to cool off. After
that it's back into an even hotter pot
(if you choose) and sit for 5 minutes.
Then you cool off and swim as slowly as
possible for 200 meters. When finished
you take a good shower and rest. You'll
find that stress has been reduced
significantly, perhaps even disappeared.
This system is also effective for
jet-lag.
Did you know
that Reykjavik is a paradise for hay
fever sufferers? There is no pollen in
the atmosphere during April, very little
in May and then mainly ling (empetrum
nigrum). The most common period for
pollen doesn't begin in Reykjavík until
about 10 June, so a good time for hey
fever sufferers to visit is in April and
May. By visiting the pools once or twice
a day you will improve your vitality and
health. |
